| | | March 10, 2010 - Wednesday, March 10, 2010Scripture Reading: Romans 14:5-8
“If we live, we live to the Lord; and if we die, we die to the Lord. So whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord.” - Romans 14:8 What wonderful news – “we belong to the Lord.” What does this mean? To me it means that I have a relationship with a God who loves me and is faithful and forgiving. Because of this relationship, I strive to serve Him each and every day, but if I fail to do so, he will forgive me and give me another chance. It also means that I can turn to Him in times of trouble, and He will comfort me and answer my prayers. I do not have to face life alone because He is with me every step of the way. When I was diagnosed with cancer and when my brother passed away, I was so thankful that I belonged to Him because he gave me the strength and comfort to get through those difficult situations. Without God’s direction, I would be wandering aimlessly through life. However, I need have no fear, for I have the assurance that in all things God works for the good for those who belong to the Lord. Prayer Focus - Jail Ministry Pray that discernment will be evident in the minds of our member missionaries that enter the jail each week. They hear many stories---some true and others false. The gift of discernment is needed as our missionaries share Christ's love with some people that may not be sincere. | |

| | Welcome! We’re glad you’ve joined us for this journey Along the Way with Jesus. Along the Way is a curriculum series of Sunday School lessons and daily devotions written by members of our congregation. Each series has daily reading through a book of the Bible. The daily devotions are inspired by that day's text. The Sunday School lessons are based on the same text as the Sunday sermon and are drawn from the week's reading as well. We chose the title “Along the Way” because it seems to capture the life and ministry of Jesus. moreCurrent Series: "What God Expects" In the first part of our study of Paul’s letter to the Christians in Rome we examined several of the foundational beliefs on which the Christian faith is built and we explored more deeply how we live out those beliefs in practice. Now, our study will focus on “What God Expects.” What kind of a lifestyle should a Christian live?
Our journey together through Paul’s letter is a significant opportunity to revisit the heart of our faith and to examine our response to God and to God’s promises. Clearly, God takes very seriously how we live our lives. We would do well to take seriously how we live our lives as well. May this study move us in that direction… Along the Way.
This isn’t an exercise. This is your life, your life with God. Make something of it. Be changed. Change the world. |
