Christian Women's Job Corps

What makes us different from other job agencies is that we require weekly Bible study and provide mentors for each participant.  We walk with our participants, wherever she is toward her future allowing her to reach for her dreams.  We are strength-based mentors.  We average working with 10 women each year.  Most of the women we help come to us homeless and/or with a jail past.

Our classes may include, but not limited to parenting skills, health and nutrition, money management, time management, planning and goal setting, Microsoft Certification Training, Literacy improvement, Career Development, Relationship and team building, dealing with adversities and confrontations in positive ways.  We also include celebrations for the smallest accomplishment in each of our women’s lives.

We have recently purchased the license from Microsoft to be able to teach Microsoft Certification.  This piece of our organization is called TOP (Today’s Office Program) and includes internships.  Age is not a requirement to be a TOP student.  A computer lab will be setup at the Jo Ann Harrelson Center to teach TOP.  We expect our success rate to move to 85% by adding TOP.

We offer our services to any woman in need who can be equipped for life and gainful employment.  We do require that she be clean and sober for at least 30 days and 18 or over.

Currently we have been meeting each Monday evening at the FBC Activities Center with Bible Study and other classes.  We had a very small computer lab setup at the Wilmington Baptist Association for the past 3 years.  We have grown and see the need for more space, along with easier access for those we service.

Thank you for considering us as one of your extensions to our community. CWJC makes a difference one woman at a time.
