Christian Women's Job Corps

Christian Women's Job Corps (CWJC) provides a Christian holistic approach in which women in need are empowered and equipped for life and employment, moving from dependency to self-sufficiency; and a missions context in which women help women.  We began on October 9, 2001 and have a success rate of 65%.  We are non-denominational and tax-exempt.  We are a HandUP, not a handout agency.  We have four goals for each of our participants:
* Begin and/or grow in a relationship with Jesus Christ
* Complete job-readiness and life-skills classes
* Attain self-sufficiency in her culture
* Give back to our community.

Mary Ellen Bowman, Executive Director, may be reached at 910-799-1160.

Ways to Serve

Speak Up.  Advocate for CWJC, making sure influential persons in our community and state really know the needs of the impoverished and provide good, sound solutions.

Serve.   Become a member of one of our committees, (Finance, Development, Grant Writing, Housing, etc.) or serve on our Board (up to 3 years) etc.  Be a mentor.  This is the heartbeat of HOPE for impoverished women. (6 month commitment)

Contribute.  Pledge to provide a monthly contribution, get 10 friends to join in the challenge.  Raise funds by holding a fundraising event that can help underwrite the expenses of CWJC.

Prayerwalk. Pray for those who are living in communities where poverty is infested.

Adopt a woman for Christmas, Thanksgiving, Easter, Valentine’s Day or her birthday.

Host a job fair, celebration, Children’s Fun Day, basket meal, etc.
