Mission
To empower sheltered homeless and nearly homeless people by helping them to build self- confidence, by instilling hope, by providing resources for job hunting, by teaching job-hunting skills, and by helping them to find and keep satisfying work. The Program
The program is intensive one-on-one interaction between staff, volunteers and job-hunters. Each individual’s worth and unique gifts are emphasized. Discovering their gifts helps guide the job hunters toward satisfying work, not just a job. The first task is to identify a specific job title or position that the participant really wants to do. Each one is taught how to find those job opportunities and how to market himself or herself
to obtain the job.

Do you have a talent for helping others develop their skills? Volunteer to assist at Phoenix Employment Ministry!
Among the skills which the participants will learn are:
Resume writing — Resumes demonstrate how many gifts they have, how much experience they have, and how valuable they can be to an employer. Proper attire — Participants are required to dress in professional attire and are helped to obtain necessary clothing. Punctuality — Tardiness is not accepted. Job-hunters are expected to treat the job search as their full-time job until they find their next job. Time not spent in the office is spent in the field filling out applications, meeting employers, and learning how to get to meet the person who can hire you. Phone skills and interviewing skills — Role play is used to learn how to use the phone to find work and how to interview with a prospective employer. These exercises also help to build self-confidence. Community support — Participants are a valuable source of support and resources for each other.
