Daryl came on staff in January 2008 to fill the brand new position of Min. of Administration and Sr. Adults. Daryl has connections to the area as he grew up in Southport, NC. Before coming to FBC, Daryl worked as a banker for several years before going into full time ministry where he served as a youth minister for over 11 years. He has served churches in both Mt.Airy and Fuquay Varina, NC. He was ordained into ChristianMinistry in 2002 by PineyGroveBaptistChurch. He is a graduate of CampbellUniversity twice – once in 1994 (BA in Business Admin) and again in 2002 (Masters of Divinity). However, the best thing that happened at Campbell for Daryl was meeting Dawn, his wife of 11 years! They have two children – a 4 year old daughter, Abby, who loves the water, her trike and ice cream and a 1 year old son, Ethan, who is in to everything and is learning the joys of walking.
If you catch Daryl at home or away from the office, you’ll probably find him playing with Abby and Ethan, grilling, gardening, playing sports or watching “The Deadliest Catch” on TV. He is excited about being close to the beach so that he can pick up his old love of salt water fishing! Daryl also enjoys a good non-fiction book with some of his favorite reads being “i am not but i know I AM” by Louie Giglio and “Irresistible Revolution” by Shane Claiborne.
Daryl’s love is working with and in the local church and is excited about being a part of FBC-Wilmington. He believes that God works in so many ways through and with his church. Learning to be church is one of the most exciting and challenging things Daryl has ever been apart of. One of his favorite quotes is from Louie Giglio – “The story already has a star, and the star is not you or me”.
