Random, eclectic and occasionally profound thoughts about faith, life and NYC... not necessarily in that order.

All I could think about as I entered the tube of the stark white MRI machine was Toy Story 3 - Woody, Buzz Light Year, the Potato Heads – all grabbing metal objects so they would be sucked up by the powerful magnet and avoid the fiery furnace at the city dump.  I was certain the myriad of fillings in my mouth would be ripped right out of my teeth by the pull of the “strong magnetic field” that the ‘Caution’ poster in the dressing room warned me about.  My morning had been frustrating enough already.  I really didn’t need this kind of stress.

I think I must have been creeping out the server at the coffee shop.  I was just trying to practice the spiritual discipline of paying attention to people.  You know... making eye contact, calling people by name, smiling.  I must not be very good at it because my favorite server stopped talking to me two months ago, about two weeks after I started being intentionally friendly.  Until this morning...

For those who witnessed the crucifixion on Friday and had no idea of the resurrection to come on Sunday, Saturday must have been unbearable.  Sometimes we live those unbearable Saturdays.  When our world gets shaken on Friday, but we can't see the hope of Sunday.  At those times, Saturday stands still.
