I was born in Asheville, North Carolina but grew up on Lake Norman in what was then the small, country town of Mooresville. I met my
husband Jeff in high school but we didn’t think of each other as more than friends until some five years after graduation. Jeff and I were married in 1991 and have called Wilmington and First Baptist Church home ever since. We have a son, Cutter who brings incredible joy to our lives and keeps us laughing constantly. Each year I say “this is my favorite stage in his life.” When he recently turned thirteen I was once again reminded how short their young lives are and how much I want to cherish and hold on to each day.
Cooking, Music and Kids… that pretty much sums up my passions! My great grandmother lived with my family growing up and between my Nana and my mom I learned from a very early age to love the art of preparing and serving others a great meal.
I absolutely love music! One of my favorite outings is to go to Barnes and Noble or the Salt Shaker and spend time just listening to different music and artists. My favorite music is contemporary Christian with Third Day and Bebo Norman topping my list of favorite artists. Big band with Michael Buble’, Dean Martin and Sammy Davis runs a close second.
I would say my true heart strings are for KIDS. I just adore children and I love helping them discover the heart Jesus! God has and continues to develop in me a deep, deep desire to reach the hearts of children through teaching His word and sharing my heart with them. Children are fun, real and give lots of great hugs! I believe they want and need to be loved and respected and to be taught God’s ways so that they can have a hope of living a full and happy life guided by God’s almighty hand.
Before coming on staff at First Baptist I was lucky to call myself a stay at home mom who was deeply committed to children’s ministry at FBC. My calling into this ministry full time has truly been a blessing from God. Each day I am grateful for this church, the amazing staff I work along side of, and these wonderful children and parents that I am privileged to partner with in ministry.
Jeremiah 29:11… “For I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord. Plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
Psalm 51:10… “Create in me a pure heart, Oh God.”
