Along the Way

Welcome to our journey "Along the Way!"   "Along the Way" is the title of the lesson series used by most of our adult Sunday School classes.  The series themes and lessons parallel the Sunday morning sermons and Scripture passages.  Both the Sunday School lessons and the daily devotions are written by members of our congregation and guide us through our reading of the Bible and applying it to our lives together.

Sunday School is an integral part of our Along the Way journey.  If you don't belong to a Sunday School class, now is the time to get involved.

Below is a current listing of our adult Sunday School classes along with a general idea of the ages of folks in the group.    Each group has a little bit different personality, a little different way of functioning as a class.  Visit several classes to find the one that is right for you.

How to Read the Bible

How to Read the Bible

PRAY before you begin reading the Bible, asking God to show you what he wants you to know or understand about himself or how he wants to shape and use your life.

READ the passage three times, if possible:

  • once for general understanding,
  • a second time to notice what word or phrase or verse stands out to you, and
  • a third time to listen for how God wants you to put his Word into practice.

ASK yourself the following questions:

  • What is happening in this passage?  Try to understand what is going on at that time.  Don’t jump immediately to the present day.
  • What seems to be the message that is being communicated?  Is there a lesson, promise, example, warning, encouragement, command?
  • How does that message apply to me and my life?  What am I going to do about it?  How will I respond?
