Opportunities to SERVE

Making a difference in our community is a huge part of our churches identity. We call that mission. God’s mission is to put a broken world back together one person at a time and we’re invited to be a part of that mission.

Mission is not something we just do- it is the core of who we are as ‘followers of Christ’

Let us help you find a place to serve using your gifts and passions all for the glory of God. Together we can make a difference that will make an eternal impact in our community.

To volunteer or find out more about any of these opportunities, please contact Don Vigus – 910-619-4800 or EMAIL.

Love Does Days

Last Saturday, February 27, we changed our mission project to removing the dormant vines that are growing in the outfield fence on the softball field at the Activities Center. We had a good team of workers and a big thank you goes out to each of them.

Mark Your Calendars – – TBD | 9AM – 2PM
Meet at Knox home — 28 White Sands Road, Hampstead NC

Our next Love Does Day is this Saturday. Lunch is prepared and all our work will be inside. We always have a terrific time together. Tools, as well as major construction skills, are not needed. Contact Don at 910-619-4800 for more info or if you have any questions.

Tuesday Night Feeding Ministry

Weekly Update – March 2: Almost every Tuesday night, loving FBC members cook delicious homemade desserts for our homeless friends. They are a special treat and often are shared in a container with personalized messages written on the outside such as … God Loves You, You are Blessed or First Baptist Loves You. A big thank you for every spoonful of chocolate icing spread on those cupcakes and cakes.

FBC Prepared Meals – April 6: On the FIRST TUESDAY of EACH MONTH, we will call on our FBC families to prepare meals. We are asking 20 FBC families to prepare 10 meals each and bring them downtown on Tuesday evening between 5:30-6:30pm. FBC will provide styrofoam containers for you to fill with any type of meal you desire. You may pick up your styrofoam, clamshell containers at the Activities Center front door any time from 9am – 4pm on Monday or Tuesday. Thanks in advance for sharing your cooking skills in Jesus’ name.

Food Box Delivery

Each Friday morning we drive an FBC van out to First Baptist Church in Shallotte, NC, and pick up 100 or more food boxes. Our first stop is at the Pines Apartments on Shipyard across the street from Green Lawn cemetery. Many of the folks who live there are families from Guatemala, Honduras, and Mexico. One or two special men who live at the Pines Apartments always meet me to help unload the food boxes and deliver them to the families. I really appreciate their help.

Alderman Prayer Partners Needed

Be an Alderman Elementary Prayer Partner … 4 Prayer Partners needed! For eight years FBC has been pairing members with Alderman staff who desire prayer support. There is no greater time to offer your prayer support directly to a teacher on the front lines of educating and caring for children. Sign up to be a Prayer Partner so our teachers may begin receiving prayer support while navigating in-person and virtual teaching. SIGN UP HERE or Contact Heather Sutton – Email.

Karen Homework Helpers Needed

Homework helpers are also needed as all of these children were regular participants of our Wednesday night HOMEWORK ministry. Since our state moved into Phase 3 of re-opening, we began again helping our Burmese Refugee children with their homework every Wednesday evening. We started this semester with a small group of only 7 children and 7 GPS students from UNCW. Many of our GPS students who helped were Asian students and it is great for our Karen children to spend time with an Asian college student. Our hope is that they will catch the vision of how important education is and one day they will be a college student themselves.
