Opportunities to SERVE

Making a difference in our community is a huge part of our churches identity. We call that mission. God’s mission is to put a broken world back together one person at a time and we’re invited to be a part of that mission.

Mission is not something we just do- it is the core of who we are as ‘followers of Christ’

Let us help you find a place to serve using your gifts and passions all for the glory of God. Together we can make a difference that will make an eternal impact in our community.

To volunteer or find out more about any of these opportunities, please contact Don Vigus – 910-619-4800 or EMAIL.

Love Does Days

September 12 Recap: A great mission work team came out last Saturday to continue work on the home of Joe and Wendy Knox. We completed installing the 3/4″ Styrofoam insulation boards around the entire house and the next step will be to nail the 4′ x 8′ exterior wallboards. Watch for the next Saturday ‘Love Does’ workday. We will expand to two Saturdays each month during the cooler fall season. Make plans to join us. We have a great time working together and sharing God’s Love.

Next Date TBD |  9am – 2pm
Meet at Knox home — 28 White Sands Road, Hampstead NC at 9am

10 VOLUNTEERS needed! (to accommodate social distancing) for a number of projects. All of the electrical, HVAC, and plumbing permits are done and now we will spend the fall “cooler” season getting the newly renovated home ready for Thanksgiving Dinner. We will have many projects going on September 12 and will divide the entire work team into small groups of 2-3 in order to keep everyone as safe as possible.  Make plans now to join us!

As soon as our state enters Phase 3 of the reopening process, we will return to taking mission teams to work on the home of Joe and Wendy Knox in Hampstead.

Karen Volunteers Needed

Be a Karen Family Helper … Can you imagine the difficult task of navigating school information that our Karen parents are feeling right now? These parents need help with the start of school, including any parent meetings which may be held. We can assign you to assist one of our Karen families and help their children during the first part of the school year.

Homework helpers are also needed as all of these children were regular participants of our Wednesday night HOMEWORK ministry. Each child uniquely made by God is a joy to get to know!

Tuesday Night Feeding Ministry

“Tonight is the FIRST TUESDAY of the month and once again we will have our FBC church members prepare 10 meals to share with our homeless friends and neighbors. It is always very exciting to see our church members drive up on Tuesday afternoon with their ten clam shell take-out plates filled with their home cooked meals. Each week our homeless friends are very excited about the variety of food that is available on the first Tuesday of each month. Our second serving site near Greenfield Lake is working out great and is a real answer to prayer. Continue to pray for our hungry and homeless population in Downtown Wilmington.” – Don

FBC Prepared Meals – October 6 … On the FIRST TUESDAY of EACH MONTH, we will call on our FBC families to prepare meals. We are asking 20 FBC families to prepare 10 meals each and bring them downtown on Tuesday evening between 4:30-6:00pm. FBC will provide styrofoam containers for you to fill with any type of meal you desire. You may pick up your styrofoam, clamshell containers at the Activities Center front door any time from 9am – 4pm on Monday or Tuesday. Thanks in advance for sharing your cooking skills in Jesus’ name.

We plan to allow our fully staffed mission teams to return to work on Tuesday evenings as soon as our state enters Phase 3 of the re-opening process.

Food Box Program – Relocating to Louisiana coast

Tuesday, September 15 will be the last delivery of the 80 fruit and vegetables boxes which have been provided by NC Baptist on Mission during the summer and early fall. They will continue to provide the food boxes but will move the service location to the Louisiana coast where they have had several hurricanes this season. Pray for those families on the Gulf Coast who have lost their homes or have had damage to their homes. Pray that they will see God’s Love being shared in each of the fruit and vegetable boxes that they will receive.
