How often do we make the mistake of assuming things about others based on superficial “surface only” observations? The old adage “you can’t judge a book by it’s cover” is indeed an old-fashioned phrase but nonetheless true. God has chosen some very unlikely characters over the centuries to embody significant assignments. Are we not guilty of judging others based on externals alone? David was not the tallest or most impressive by “normal” standards, but thankfully Samuel did not overlook him. Who are we overlooking in our lives?
