“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.” Psalm 46

The damage and aftermath from Hurricane Florence has left our city and surrounding community with devastation unlike anything we have ever experienced. This page has been established to keep you informed of the relief efforts happening through or in partnership with our church. We will update this page daily but please note that information is subject to change without notice.

The response from our church family, our community and from across the nation is making a difference in the lives of those who are most affected by this storm.

Thank you for the role you have played and will play in being the ‘hands and feet of Christ.’ Mission is not just something we do at First Baptist, but is who we are! “…love your neighbor as yourself.’ Mark 12:31

First Baptist is committed to help families put their homes back together, after the resent storm. We will work primarily with NC Baptist on Mission Recovery Response teams “rebuilding lives…restoring hope”. Our work will include chainsaw/tree removal, shingle/tarp work, removing furniture, sheet-rock and flooring and spraying ShockWave. You can volunteer 7 days a week by joining a daily work team at Pine Valley Baptist Church. In addition, FBC will organize teams to work together on the following dates. Sunday school classes, small groups and groups of friends are encouraged to pick a date(s) and ‘be on mission together’. The work day is 9am to 2pm.

Financial Donations: All money that is given through the ministry of First Baptist Church will be used to aid in relief for those who have been impacted by the storm. Thank you for your generous gift.

The Harrelson Center in partnership with Catholic Charities and The Help Hub have become vital in the supply distribution to our community and to the areas hardest hit outside of Wilmington. Hurricane Florence is bringing our community together!

The outpouring of support from our neighbors has been overwhelming!  We continue to pray and love our neighbors with you! We are still in need of volunteers to help with the relief efforts. To better organize our efforts, the warehouse at 921 Princess Street will be open MWF, 11am-1PM, for the next couple weeks. We will be accepting donations and volunteer help to unload, sort, and repackage donations during these times.  Please sign up to help.

Deliveries may be dropped off at 921 Princess St. on MWF between 11:00 am and 1:00 PM or by making an appointment via email to director@harrelsoncenter.org.

Donations of supplies can also be made through our Amazon Wish List.
