Music connects us and draws us closer into relationship with God and others. The Music Ministry of our church relies on vocalists and instrumentalists who have a deep passion and commitment for enhancing worship with their gifts.

Sing to the LORD a new song, for he has done marvelous things.” Psalm 98:1

WORSHIP VIDEOS        HYMNS OF COMFORT

Modern Worship

Our Worship Choir leads through song every week in the 9:00 am service. This community of worshipers enjoy modern worship music and love to praise God with their voices. We love to welcome new members.

The Worship Band is a group of skilled musicians who offer their gifts weekly in worship.

Rehearsals are held on Wednesday evenings beginning at 6:00 pm in the Sanctuary.

If you would like to learn more about serving, contact John Kimbrough, Minster of Modern Worship & Young Adults

Traditional Worship

The Chancel Choir consists of people who love using their voice to worship God. They passionately lead our 11:00 am worship service each Sunday and also use their gifts at other times during the year through several special performances.

No audition is necessary to join the Chancel Choir. The only requirements are a love for Christ, a heart for music, and dedication to the group’s excellence.

Rehearsals are held Thursdays from 7:00-9:00 pm in the choir room downtown.

Instrumentalists are valued leaders in the 11:00 am worship and special services throughout the year.

To learn more about serving, contact Steven Thomason, Minister of Traditional Worship.

Regular attendance at worship and rehearsals are crucial for each music minister’s tasks and a required commitment for all who serve through music ministry.

Children

In Singers, preschoolers and children make a joyful noise with instruments and song. Kids lead in worship several times a year offering praises with voice and heart. Singers meets during CrossTraining, on Wednesday evenings during the fall and spring.

Youth

The youth group worship ministry is based on the larger vision of our church. We are servants first, always seeking to bring honor and glory to God through our music. We exist to lead others into the presence of God through praise and worship.

The Youth Band leads worship during Youth Group on Sunday evenings. Rehearsals are Sunday afternoon prior to Youth Group.

Special Events

Christmas at First Baptist combines the musical talents of the Chancel Choir and members of the Wilmington Symphony Orchestra. In addition we open participation up to church members not regularly serving in Choir and local vocalists and musicians. All ages of men and women from teenagers to senior adults make up this special group of volunteers.

The Christmas at First Baptist concert is our Christmas gift to the community. There is no cost to attend but at each of the four performances a special collection is taken to benefit Habitat for Humanity. This generous giving allows First Baptist to partner with Habitat to build at least one home for a special family in our community during the year.

Rehearsals for Christmas at First Baptist begin in September, with the four performances being the second weekend in December. For more information about sharing your gifts contact Steven Thomason, Minister of Traditional Worship.
