Holy Week

WORSHIP – APRIL 4 EASTER SUNDAY

The reality of Easter changes EVERYTHING! Christ resurrected, death defeated, sins forgiven, evil overcome is almost unbelievable, but the way you live and love confirms it is real. Easter is more than a single day. Easter is a life changing, world changing reality that infuses life and light into us such that we live in the light of the amazing love of God that is never extinguished. The first of all things that God created was light, made by the word of God’s creative power. May we, the followers of the risen Christ, proclaim and continue illuminating the Light of the World.

WORSHIP – APRIL 2 GOOD FRIDAY

The word “tenebrae” comes from the Latin meaning darkness. The Tenebrae is an ancient Christian Good Friday service that makes use of gradually diminishing light through the extinguishing of candles to symbolize the events of that week from the triumphant Palm Sunday entry through Jesus’ burial.

WORSHIP – APRIL 1 MAUNDY THURSDAY

  • In-person self-guided stations Dowtown FBC
  • Drop-in any time from 9AM-1PM or 4-7PM

We will be setting up prayer stations in the sanctuary. You can light a candle as you offer a prayer. You can nail your confession or your hope on the cross. Due to COVID-19, the stations will be self-guided and all supplies will be individually packaged. The sanctuary will be open for you to come and pray.

WORSHIP AT HOME – MARCH 28 PALM SUNDAY

Palm Sunday begins the most significant week in our Christian faith. We celebrate Jesus’ triumphal entry with Palm branches waving. In a few short days, Jesus will be falsely accused, tried and crucified before he is raised to new life on Easter morning! But first, we shout, “Hosanna! Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!”
