We believe worshiping God is a journey that changes us from the inside out. As followers of Jesus Christ, we desire to make worship a part of our everyday lives. Our worship services are prayerfully designed to inspire encounters with God that will bring us deeper into our faith. Join us each week for worship ONLINE or IN-PERSON.

WORSHIP THIS WEEK

October 1 (World Communion Sunday) | 9AM & 11AM

We Are the Body | Rev. Barrett Owen| Luke 22:14-23

When the hour came, he took his place at the table, and the apostles with him. He said to them, ‘I have eagerly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer; for I tell you, I will not eat it until it is fulfilled in the kingdom of God.’ Then he took a cup, and after giving thanks he said, ‘Take this and divide it among yourselves; for I tell you that from now on I will not drink of the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God comes.’ Then he took a loaf of bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to them, saying, ‘This is my body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.’ And he did the same with the cup after supper, saying, ‘This cup that is poured out for you is the new covenant in my blood. But see, the one who betrays me is with me, and his hand is on the table. For the Son of Man is going as it has been determined, but woe to that one by whom he is betrayed!’ Then they began to ask one another which one of them it could be who would do this.

HYMNS OF COMFORT

Each of our worship services has a distinct worship style and is approximately one hour long. The teaching is the same, and both services are held in our beautiful and historic sanctuary.

In addition to engaging worship music and Bible-based teaching with real life application, we also offer opportunities throughout the week for you to grow in relationships and partner with others to make a difference in our community and world.

Christmas at First Baptist

Christmas at First Baptist is a musical gift to the community presented by the FBC Chancel Choir and Orchestra. This beautiful worship concert of the hope, peace, joy, and love found in the birth of Jesus Christ is performed every December.

“Jon and I married at First Baptist almost 25 years ago, and this wonderful church has been the center of my life ever since. Worship, fellowship and ministry there have enriched my spiritual life and inspired me to serve our Lord and Savior.” Lorraine

Frequently Asked Questions

What times are Sunday worship services?

We offer two Sunday morning worship opportunities. 9:00 am and 11:00 am.

Where do I park?

Parking is available along the streets and offices adjacent to the church building. There are handicap spaces in our parking lot behind the church. There is also parking in the garage below the JoAnne Carter Harrelson Center off of 4th Street.  This MAP is shaded in with areas that are typically available for parking.

Where is First Baptist Church Located?

Located downtown in historic Wilmington, the church address is 411 Market Street, Wilmington NC 28401. Our church sits at the corner of 5th and Market Streets, beside the large water fountain.

Are the sermons the same at both services?

Yes, the exact same sermon is preached in each service by the same minister.

What about my children?

Children are a vital part of our worship. We celebrate inter-generational worship and intentionally seek to engage children in kindergarten through 5th grade in worship.  There are regularly scheduled children’s sermons, baptisms and parent child dedication services. To help young children engage, we offer worship bags filled with activities to help your children focus during the worship services. These bags are located at the entrances to the sanctuary.

Preschool children, infants to four-year-olds, will receive excellent care in age specific classrooms during worship. We provide a caring environment specifically tailored to the age of your children and we staff our nursery rooms with caring professionals and dedicated volunteers who have been screened rigorously.

The preschool hall with classrooms for infants through four-year-olds is located directly behind the sanctuary; our door greeters will direct you to this area where you will be met by a childcare host.

We are committed to providing a safe and secure environment for all of our children.

Nursery workers, worship care volunteers, and teachers all have been screened, background checked and trained in our child protection and safety policies.

Becca Jones, Minister to Children

Will there be anyone to greet me when I arrive?

Our Greeters will meet you at the entrances of the building and help direct you to the sanctuary or to our nursery and preschool rooms.

How can I connect with a staff member?

Our Pastoral staff would love the opportunity to welcome you personally.

If you would like more information, to connect with a minister, or have specific needs, please contact us.

You will also find a Connect Card located in the pew pocket in the sanctuary.
