Ministry Teams

Ministry Teams are a great way for members and non-members to connect,

serve, and make an impact in the life of our church community.

What is a Ministry Team?

The purpose of a Ministry Team is to assist and aid the staff ministers in addressing tasks and needs in furthering the ministries of the church.

TEAM STRUCTURE

Ministry Teams are composed of a staff minister, a Team Leader, and as many church members and nonmembers who desire to join in the work of a specific ministry. In consultation with the Ministry Team Leader, the staff minister shall determine how to utilize the Ministry Team to best serve the needs of a particular ministry. There is no set number of Ministry Team members, meetings, quorum, or meeting minutes taken. Meetings are informal and are called at the discretion of the staff minister.

STAFF LIAISON

The Senior Pastor shall appoint a staff minister to each Ministry Team. The staff minister is responsible for coordinating the work of the team, planning of any ministry activity or event, and purchasing any needed materials. Ministry Team Leaders and members do not have access to church funds or the calendaring of events and activities. It shall be the responsibility of the staff minister to submit an annual report of the of the Ministry Team to the Leadership Council by January 31.

TEAM LEADERS

The identity of all Ministry Teams and their leaders are recommended to the Leadership Council by a staff minister in consultation with the Senior Pastor. After annual approval of the Leadership Council, the names of the Ministry Teams and Team Leaders shall be reported to the church by the Leadership Council during the Annual Meeting or at a regular business meeting of the church. All Team Leaders must be members of the First Baptist Church and are responsible to the membership.

MINISTRY TEAM INVOLVEMENT

All church members are encouraged to join a Ministry Team of their choice. A list of current Ministry Teams, including the staff minister and team leader, and a brief description of the work of a particular committee, will be kept on file in the church office. The list of Ministry Teams and opportunities for volunteer service will be given to new members and sent periodically to all members. Ministry Teams are open to any church member or nonmember who wants to serve and be connected to a particular ministry. It is the responsibility of the staff minister to coordinate the best structure to utilize the talents and volunteer efforts of Ministry Team Members. When the work of a specific Ministry Team has been completed, or there is no continuing need for the ministry, the Leadership Council, upon recommendation of the Senior Pastor, may discontinue the service of the Ministry Team.
