Our purpose in the nursery is to provide a safe and loving environment
for the children of First Baptist Church.
Our desire for the children of First Baptist Church and for the
children of this generation is that they have a true encounter with
God, and that they will be equipped to serve and love Him even at
this stage of their lives. Our hope is that the church will be their
safe haven where they can bring their laughter, joy, tears and disappointments
and lay them before Jesus. Our joy will be seeing many come to know
Jesus for the very first time and seeing Him reflected in their
daily lives as they grow spiritually, mentally and physically toward
becoming fully devoted to Christ.
It takes many people working together to raise children who love
the Lord and want to serve Him. The greatest gift we can give our
children is to pray for them, to love them unconditionally and to
let them see Jesus in all that we say and do.
EXTENDED CARE
Extended Care adult volunteers are always welcome to nurture, care
for and love the children; infants through four year olds during
the Journey and Traditional worship services.
PAGER SYSTEM
First Baptist Church uses a paging system in the infants, crawlers
and toddlers programs. Parents will be given a pager when a child
is dropped off in the nursery. If the parent is needed for any reason,
they will be paged by those serving in the nursery.
PREPARING FOR WORSHIP
Children age five and older are invited to participate in worship
with their families. Extended care is not provided for this age
group during the worship services. Preparing
for Worship is a class designed to help rising kindergarteners
and their parents make the transition from extended nursery care
to worship. Helping our children learn to worship is one of the
most important jobs of parenting. “Parenting in the Pew”
is the textbook used for this class.
PARENT-CHILD DEDICATION
Parent-Child Dedication
is normally held one Sunday each month. Dedicating your child to
be raised in the church and a Christ-filled home is the purpose
of this special celebration in which parents, child, family and
congregation participate.
