This Christmas season, we invite you and your family to experience the wonder and hope of the holidays at First Baptist Church. Join us for a variety of festive events designed to bring our community together in celebration of the birth of Christ. From cherished traditions to new experiences, there’s something for everyone this Christmas season at First Baptist. The events below are listed in chronological order - be sure to scroll down to see them all!

Celebrate Christmas

December 7, 2024

FBC Activity Center (1939 Independence Blvd)

Join us on December 7th for Celebrate Christmas! Kids from birth to 5th grade and their families will share in this special Christmas celebration. There will be an instant nativity play where everyone can join in costumes and sing carols together as we hear the scripture of the story of Jesus’ birth. Families will work together through activity stations making wreaths, decorating cookies, crafting keepsake ornaments, and more!

This event is FREE, but please RSVP to ensure we have enough supplies for everyone!

Christmas Lights

FBC Student Christmas Tree Lot

Mark your calendars - the FBC Student Ministry tree lot opens on November 23!

The tree lot is a fundraiser to support the student ministry throughout the year.

Meadow Lights

Join us for Meadow Lights with FBC!

Meadow Lights is Eastern North Carolina's largest and oldest Christmas light show, featuring over 30 acres of lights and a train ride through 10 acres. This family-owned business, operating for over 40 years, also has "The Old Country Store," one of the largest candy stores in the state, offering over 300 varieties of candy.

Cost:

Train ride: $3 per person

Carousel: $3 per person

Visit Santa for free (photos: $8)

Ride in the FBC van: $3 per person (cash/check)

Christmas at the Cove

Each year we collect and host a no-cost toy store for families in need through our Harrelson Center Partners, Alderman Elementary, and other local organizations. We’ll have hundreds of kids and adults from the community at our Activity Center taking part in the event. The kids will play, enjoy crafts, and join in all sorts of activities while their parents get to shop in the toy store.

Gifts for Christmas at the Cove:

We are looking for donations of new, unwrapped toys for our toy store! We are collecting gifts for children of all ages, and gift cards are also welcome.

Bring your toy donations with you to our Night of Thanks on November 24! If you have toys to drop off prior to 11/24. please bring them directly to the Activity Center.

 

Volunteer information:

We need volunteers who are willing to say “Yes!” To helping with the Toy Store, the book drive, kids crafts and activities, set up, take down, clean up crews, and everything else in between! All ages are welcome to take part. Please prayerfully consider how you can help us host this deeply impactful event. Volunteers are needed from 5-8 PM (or later if on clean up)

Our Christmas concert is a musical gift to the community presented by the FBC Chancel Choir and Orchestra in our beautiful downtown sanctuary.

This concert is FREE and no RSVP is required. 

Christmas Eve with First Baptist Church

2:30PM Modern | 5PM Traditional | 11PM Traditional

FBC Downtown Campus (411 Market Street)

Free for everyone - no RSVP required

Celebrate the Christ-child with carols, communion, and candlelight. Childcare will be available at the 2:30PM and 5PM services. All three services will be streamed live to our YouTube Channel.
