Emmanuel: God is With Us – An Advent Devotional Blog

Welcome to our Advent blog!

For each day, beginning on the First Sunday in Advent and ending on Christmas Day, a member of our congregation has written about their experience of Emmanuel: God is With Us, sharing a time when they have felt and known God’s presence in a meaningful way.

One of the most important moments in history is the Christ in-dwelling: the moment God sends God’s son to the world to live and move among us. This single act in history changes everything forever. Eight hundred years before this moment, Israel started to feel it coming. Isaiah prophecies about a divine in-dwelling and preemptively taught us that this indwelling would bring with it hope, peace, joy and love.

This Advent and Christmas, we are paying attention as a congregation to how God’s presence among God’s people changed history forever, and how that history is still being shaped today.  Even in you, and even in me.

May these brief daily glimpses of God in the midst of our people give you eyes to see God’s loving and abiding presence in your own life more clearly, and to experience God’s hope, peace, joy and love in new ways this Advent season and beyond.
