“But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore, I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.”
- 2 Corinthians 12:9
The grace that saved us is the grace that shapes us.
There’s a moment in every believer’s life - maybe in a hospital room, maybe in your parked car on the side of the road, maybe at 2 a.m. when you’re staring at the ceiling - when you realize: I am not okay, and I can’t fix it. It’s the moment the mask comes off, the strength runs out, and your faith feels more like a flicker than a fire.
And yet, it’s there in that raw, honest place that grace begins to do its deepest work.
The grace that saved you was never meant to be a one-time gift. We often think of grace as the thing that met us at the altar, the thing that washed away our past and gave us a fresh start. And yes, it is that - but it’s so much more.
Because life doesn’t stop hurting after salvation. Sin doesn’t stop tempting. Grief doesn’t stop visiting. Weakness doesn’t magically disappear.
And in all of it, God still whispers: “My grace is sufficient.”
Grace isn’t just the doorway into faith, it’s the steady hand that carries us through every season. It shapes us in our weakness, molds us through our failures, and strengthens us when we have nothing left to give.
His grace saved us.
His grace sustains us.
His grace shapes us still.
Where in your life right now do you feel weak, and how might God be using that space to show you His grace?
Lord, when my strength runs out, remind me that Your grace never does. Shape me through my weakness and help me rest in the sufficiency of Your power. Amen.
