“Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way, you will fulfill the law of Christ.” – Galatians 6:2
Emanuel. God is with us and promises to be with us always.
God's presence is experienced in many ways, but one of the key ways He shows us that He is with us is by bringing people into our lives during difficult times to provide support and encouragement.
My wonderful husband of 30 years, Brian, graduated to Heaven in 2022 after battling 13 years of various serious illnesses. At the beginning of this health journey which involved a transplant, multiple surgeries, infections, several touch and go situations, God sent into our lives a dear couple who walked with us every step of the way.
During the initial 5-month hospital stay they were with us almost daily providing support and encouragement. They enlisted people to pray, held focused prayer meetings, communicated updates, made sure I took care of myself and sometimes even stayed overnight to give me a break. They encouraged us in His Word leading us to a deeper faith and trust in God and to keep looking to Him, our source of Hope.
We truly felt the love and presence of God through this dear couple as they journeyed with us. They were a living testimony of Galatians 6:2.....coming alongside someone and bearing each other's burdens. Their testimony gave me a picture of what it truly means to walk through the valley with those that are hurting and how to provide encouragement and support. Their testimony also challenges me to look for and act on opportunities to help those that need to feel the love and presence of God.
Who has God called me to reach out to today and be His presence?
Who has He placed on your heart that needs to feel His care and love through you?
